Theme of the Expedition: Save River - Conserve Water

Distance - 1500 km.

Features of this Expedition:

I undertook a unique cycling expedition across Uzbekistan, following the course of the Amu Darya and its tributaries to understand their real, ground-level condition. Riding through remote landscapes, agricultural belts, and river-dependent communities, I documented the visible impacts of excessive water extraction, shrinking flows, and ecological stress on one of Central Asia’s most historic river systems. Once a lifeline to the Aral Sea, the river today reflects a deeper crisis shaped by human intervention and climate change. This expedition combined endurance cycling with environmental observation, offering a powerful, first-hand perspective on how fragile river ecosystems are transforming—and how these changes directly affect both nature and livelihoods.
